Grass and weed beds, lily pads and other prime bass cover can be found along shoreline areas near Fort Belvoir, Pohick Bay, Occoquan River and Aquia Harbor.Fortunately there is a 1-mile Delayed Harvest section (catch & release Oct-May) by the Front Royal Fish Hatchery where most fly fishermen can be found.Both streamers and nymphing work well, and occasional hatches occur throughout the year so keep some mayflies handy as well. Beaver Creek is renowned for its big rainbows – with some well over 20 inches. Swinging streamers and nymphing will produce fish year round, and dry flies will produce in the spring followed by terrestrials in the summer.
